Hope Garden Family Center is an oasis of hope on 71 acres in the foothills of Sylmar, California. This transitional housing campus offers sanctuary to single women and children who are experiencing homelessness. In addition, we offer permanent supportive housing for senior women in our Sequoia Lodge.
Hope Gardens helps women transition from homelessness to independence within 12 to 36 months by offering long-term rehabilitation programs, services, and spiritual care. Precious women and children have a safe place to live while they receive counseling, training, encouragement, and the real help they need to escape homelessness forever. |

The San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission provides shelter and guidance for homeless families at our Home Again Family Success Center in Northridge. Their family shelter offers families the opportunity to recover from the devastating effects of homelessness by meeting the basic needs of food, clothing, and shelter while identifying the underlying reasons for becoming homeless and establishing a plan of restoration. This year’s theme, “Changing Lives Through Education,” aligns with one of Rotary’s seven areas of focus, Basic Education and Literacy. A sixteen-foot-tall owl embodies both the spirit of self-improvement and Rotary’s determination to make the tools of education available to everyone in every land. Books, a quill pen and a hybrid apple/globe symbolize the importance of education throughout the world. |

Organized in 1973, LAPD Devonshire PALS is dedicated to developing character in youth, reducing juvenile crime and creating safer communities. We do this by providing after-school enrichment programs for low-income, at-risk children and teens that build strong, positive relationships between youth and law enforcement officers. Due to the tremendous need for youth programs in the southern section of Northridge, and with a community determined to help, LAPD Devonshire PALS built a youth center in this underserved neighborhood. We celebrated the center’s grand opening in October 2009. LAPD Devonshire PALS builds character and enriches the lives of children and teens by offering year round activities that foster trust and understanding between young people, the LAPD and the community.
